    Welding Rod Litigation

    Skip ahead to:

If you work or worked as a welder, or in an area where industrial welding was being performed, chances are that you were exposed to welding rod fumes. Recent medical research suggests that exposure to welding fumes may lead to two serious illnesses-Parkinson's disease and manganism.

    Manganism

Manganism, also known as secondary Parkinsonism, is a condition which develops when excessive levels of manganese injures that portion of the brain which controls body movements. Symptoms of this condition include:

    • fatigue
    • headache
    • slow or slurred speech
    • poor memory
    • impaired balance and tremors
    • delusions and hallucinations
    • disorientation
    • difficulty walking

    Parkinson's Disease

In addition to manganism, recent studies have found that exposure to manganese fumes is associated with the early onset of Parkinson's disease. In fact, research conducted at the Washington University School of Medicine found that welders developed symptoms of Parkinson's disease an average of 15 years earlier than the general population.

If you were involved in welding, or worked for long periods of time in areas where welding work was being performed, and you have a number of the symptoms listed above, you should contact us immediately. We will study your work history and evaluate your medical records to determine whether you may have a valid claim against the manufacturers whose welding rods you may have used.

Because any potential claim which you may have is subject to a so-called statute of limitations, we urge you to contact us immediately. For more information, call Attorney Joseph Donohue at 1-800-431-4600.
