Plaintiff Toxic Tort Associate

Thornton Law Firm, LLP, a Boston firm specializing in plaintiff toxic tort and other complex civil litigation since 1978, seeks a senior associate with 5-8 years relevant experience. 

Working closely with partners, this position will focus on all phases of toxic tort litigation from intake through trial in cases involving birth defects, cancer, and other serious personal injuries caused by occupational and environmental exposure to chemicals, asbestos, defective pharmaceutical drugs, and medical devices.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Investigate and research new litigation matters involving developing toxic torts.  Familiarity with toxic tort exposure and causation analyses a plus.
  • Handle day-to-day oversight of cases under the supervision of senior attorneys, including client communication, discovery, depositions, and hearings. 
  • The preferred candidate will possess strong writing ability and experience taking and defending expert depositions.  Spanish fluency a plus but not required.
  • Must be admitted in Massachusetts.

Plaintiff Toxic Tort JD/MPH Associate

Thornton Law Firm, LLP, a Boston firm specializing in plaintiff toxic tort and other complex civil litigation since 1978, seeks an associate with a joint JD/MPH degree or equivalent background in public, environmental, or occupational health.

Working closely with senior attorneys, this position will focus on supporting the investigation of new and developing toxic tort litigation areas, with emphasis on exposure, causation, and general epidemiological evaluation.  In addition, the associate will work in all phases of toxic tort litigation, from intake through trial, in cases involving birth defects, cancer, and other serious personal injuries caused by occupational and environmental exposure to chemicals (including solvents and other teratogens, PFAS) asbestos/silica/talc, defective pharmaceutical drugs, and medical devices.
