The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) continues its strong advocacy for a nationwide ban on the use of asbestos.  Though the use of this carcinogen has been limited over the past several decades, it still poses a significant risk to workers and their families.  The ADAO and several public health advocacy groups maintain their support for the bipartisan Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act (ARBAN) currently before congress.

This ARBAN bill, sponsored by Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR), would ban the import and use of asbestos in the United States bringing it in line with Europe and many industrialized countries.  The ADAO has recently released a video, “Advocacy in Action: Urging Congress to Ban Asbestos” featuring Senator Merkley and ten esteemed speakers from government, legal and public health sectors urging support for the ARBAN bill.  This powerful video can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukabMNDpvNQ
