Thornton Law Firm is a proud corporate sponsor of the Cristo Rey High School Work-Study Program. Loren, a junior at Cristo Rey in Boston, is in her second year interning with us. Legal Assistant Mary Collins, a long-term Thornton Law Firm employee, trains, works with, and mentors Loren closely.

“Loren is an excellent intern. She is always eager to learn new skills and do whatever is necessary to get the job done. Her positive attitude and hard work have impressed us all.” – Mary Collins

Loren learned of the Cristo Rey program from Mr. Martinez. He came to her school, the Timilty, to do an informational session on Cristo Rey. She was particularly impressed with the work-study program so she could get work experience and help pay for school.

Loren lives with her parents and her two younger twin brothers. A setter on the Cristo Rey volleyball team, Loren plays both JV and varsity. She says she is the shortest player on the team! Her excellent study habits and grades have resulted in her being nominated for membership in the National Honor Society.

Her most interesting experience at Thornton Law Firm has been going into the Suffolk County court house to watch Thornton Law firm asbestos trials. This year she watched a doctor testify about the plaintiff’s diagnosis of mesothelioma caused by asbestos.

Loren is interested in pursuing a career in criminal justice or law enforcement. Her dream school is Harvard but she is also thinking about Penn State and Holy Cross.

From our experience working with Loren, we have no doubt that she will succeed wherever she goes to college. We thank Loren for all her hard work on behalf of our clients!
